Hoses that attach to Evap Purge Control Valve
Questions about the rubber tubes that connect the throttle body to the purge solenoid valve. While trying to detach them to test the valve and for vacuum leaks, I noticed a thin outer sheath of the hose at the ends. The hoses are stuck pretty good on the hose barbs. Using a metal pick to try to loosen them up, the pick would slip inbetween the outer "skin" of the tube and the rest of the tube.
a) Is this normal, or does this mean the tubing is damaged? b) If not normal, what is the name and part number for these tubes? They aren't listed or shown on parts diagrams on Honda estore or other oem vendors I checked. c) Are they a type of vacuum hose, and would local auto parts stores have good replacements? Trying to diagnose a P1456 code. The purge valve is 36162-PAA-A01 https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hon...666ea4d136.gif |
When I had a 1998 (& same for other years) I don't remember anything like that on the vacuum hoses. They were just normal rubber vacuum hoses.

Yup, should be standard vacuum hose. We just replaced all of them on my son's 98 Civic, and we used regular vacuum hose with different ID's as required.
