Idle Problem and Gas Smell

I have a 97EX coupe, 4cyl. auto. The car has trouble idling, it seems to hunt around for idle speed. Sometimes it will idle at 1500 to 2000 when is park and nuetral. Put a load on it, in gear and that drops to any where from 500 to less and possible stall. The CEL is not on. The car stalled in gear at a light this morning, I have set the no load idle around 1100 now and in gear it drops to about 700. Is there a sensor that controls this that is going bad?

Same car as above. The last time I read the codes on it it shows multy cylinder miss fire, miss fire on all four cylinders. I have checked and made sure that all of the spark plug wires are on the distributor correctly and they are. What else causes this code and how can I fix?

I also have a 98 LX, 4cyl. auto 4door sedan. I keep smelling a gas smell but there are no obvious leaks, car has about 180K on it. Is there a specific part in the fuel system that needs to be replaced that goes bad? During the summer it seems to smell the strongest around the canister that is attached to the firewall which I am assuming is the catch can.
