Default indicator light on dash - random flashing

shes a 98 accord coupe v6

In the last month or so, from time to time, there are some dash lights that flash for a few seconds, then go away (yet no indication of anything wrong...no stall, no power loss etc)

i initially thought it was due to a loose negative terminal (which i have since replaced) i could literally pull the old one right off the neg terminal

last weekend, took her for a rip, and again had the same lights flash momentarily. The lights are:

Battery light
Emergency brake indicator
Door indicators
BRAKE indicator

They always come on at same time, and lasts no more than 2 seconds

Anyone heard of this issue?

The battery light is actually the charging indicator light. Your alternator may be going out. Usually, your generation Accord V6 came with a Delphi alternator, where a lot of them weren't very reliable like a Denso brand alternator.

replaced it no more than 30,000km ago...... but I'll likely yank it and have it tested

its very weird.... she gets stored for winter, so theres no rust whatsoever, and could eat of engine

Aside from alternator, any other ideas?

When the alternator went before, just the battery light came on (if i remember right) so thats why i find it so odd that the door open lights, BRAKE bulb light etc are coming on at same time...

Any update on this. I have the same problem with 98 accord sedan. Independent mechanic and Honda service guy say alternator is fine. Continues to happen, with radio cutting out, and surges in other electrical functions ( wipers move faster, headlights beam brighter) when the dash lights up? Helpp????

I know they say it is fine but it sure sounds like the alt?

There are some testers you can plug into the power outlets/cig lighter and it will measure the voltage while driving....check places like walmart, I think they are ~$10. With something like this on the car, then the next time it acts up, read the voltage compared to when it is not acting up.

The regulator is going out on alternator also check the ground cable coming off trans to battery. I had same problem and it was alternator. Do yourself a big favor and by a premium alternator such as Remy.

Honda service could not find anything in my 98 accord - same symptoms. I replaced the alternator - twice but to no avail.
Electrical features then started to accelerate out of pace ( wipers went crazy, vents started blowing hard, headlights started blinking)
With 199k miles, I turned it in for a 2013 accord.

Time to move on
