interior lighing
i have only had my accord (1998 EX) for a little while now and i would just like to know, are the clock and odometer supposed to light up at night and if they arent, what is the best way to illuminate them?

RE: interior lighing
they both should.... The odometer is probably a burnt out bulb (if all the other lights work) and the clock is a part of the radio isn't it? If so you may either need to get a new deck, tear apart the system (if you're good with electronics) or replace the stock stereo...

RE: interior lighing
which year was it that had the clock built into the radio and required a new radio? Or am I thinking of something else....

RE: interior lighing
Iv got a seperate clock and radio so the bulb fix for the clock will be good. can someone direct me to a place where i can buy the bulbs and a way to take my dash out to replace the odometer light.

RE: interior lighing
that's a good pic on that link, very helpful.
http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/...dm_1ca98d7.jpg the clock is built into the radio on 03-07 accords. http://img28.picoodle.com/img/img28/...dm_8b88a2b.jpg http://img31.picoodle.com/img/img31/...2m_4afa532.jpg http://img01.picoodle.com/img/img01/...3m_9b012bf.jpg that's the bulb in red. you can buy both bulbs(ask them for a clock light bulb and anodometer bulb, print this out if you have to) at thedealer. |
RE: interior lighing
wow thank you very much for your help, but can i buy the bulbs anywhere besides a dealer, i dont want to be charged an arm and a leg for them
|
RE: interior lighing
probably less than $5.00 for them both.
|
RE: interior lighing
Somewhere in that link it has the part nbr. It's under 2 bucks for 2 at radio shack. hondatech: nice diagram!
edit: go radio shack # 7219 12 volts 60mA |
RE: interior lighing
actually, the bulb for the odometer is rated at 14V 1.4w on a random parts site...interesting.
|
RE: interior lighing
Oops. I should have been specific. That was for the clock light.
|
RE: interior lighing
i didn't know it was a 14v bulb in the gauge, maybe the site got it wrong...oh well. it was $3.
|
RE: interior lighing
ok so i pryed open my clock and the place that should have a bulb is just empty there is no socket even. Is a wire supposed to attach tot eh bulb seperately or is the bulb and socket one set?
|
RE: interior lighing
I'm assuming the hole is there for the socket to fit into? If so look in the area where the clock was and start digging around for a loose hanging socket or wires
|
RE: interior lighing
the bulb just screws into the empty socket. it unscrews and screws it. buy a new clock bulb and screw it in. the terminals are built into the clock assembly.
