Intermittent No Start Problem!
I have a 94 Honda Accord EX and whenever the car has been sitting for a while, I'll turn the key to the ON position and usually the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is on before I crank the car(most of the time). Usually when this light is on, the starter motor works, but the engine doesn't turn over. But usually about 2-5min, the light shuts off and the car cranks up just fine. Then afterwards, the car acts like a champ during the rest of the day. But waking up the next day knowing the car has been sitting for a while it does it to me again and again. It's just a hassle wating for the check engine light to cut off for my engine to turn over. Help would be appreciated on this issue, trying to get this problem resolved ASAP. Thanks.

Have you tested/seached for Main realy issues.......check engine light goes off,,,car starts. Yes most of what you'll see is on "hot" days but small circut boards can also work the other way. heat expands, cold contracts - yes we all know that.
Are there any stored Codes-Check Engine Light? Is all of the other maint up to date? Any recent work/updates/additions done to the car? |
Definitely check for code(s). I just made a thread in the DIY section on how to get CEL codes. Post the codes on here that you find.

Re:
I got a new main relay, but it's still giving me the same problem. The last time I checked my check engine light it was like Code 22, but that was it.

Code 22 is for the VTEC system which is not related to any non-start problem. Bad VTEC would only affect operation at higher RPM and not a problem during idling & below say 2600rpm.

Check for codes again just to be sure no new code popped up.

Vtech and main relay
Yeah my Vtec only stops at 5rpms and the rev limiter kicks in, but I think the no start still could be the main relay because some of the people I've talked to about the situation says that the check engine light not shutting off it won't start is because of the main relay, then when it does shut off I can hear the fuel pump then the car will start.
