Default Intermittent SRS Light

I have an 03 Accord EX and over the last week, the SRS light will come on and stay on intermittently.... on for two trips, off for a day or so, on for a trip, etc.

I check for codes, but since the light is so unpredictable and it's my wifes car, I haven't been able to catch the car with the light on to check the code. Any insight?

SRS.... as in Supplemental Restraint System? Maybe has something to do with the sensor in the passenger seat if it has one. I'm not sure on the weight requirements to activate the switch, but if it's loose and making random contact, turning the passenger airbag on and off, I would think that would set the SRS light off.

The SRS light doesn't have to be on to get the code. It should be stored. A dealership will definitely be able to pull the code. I don't know if autozone can pull it with the OBDII reader, but you can always call and ask.

There could be a lot of faults causing the SRS light to come on, so don't throw parts at it. Get the code, and a lot of members who are tecs will be able to help.

The light isn't on right now but I checked the codes with my OBDII reader, but it returned no codes. I'm considering taking it to the dealership since the SRS as I don't want to ignore a safety issue.

OBD2 is only for powertrain. You have to do the srs the old fashoined way.
