just changed the alternator brushes
because the battery light kept coming on at low RPM, got a new battery as well.
the old brushes were very worn. now the battery light is on all the time and its idling low and rough. any ideas? |
Check voltage output. If low (< 12.5V w/ lights and blower load) I would suspect your rectifier and/or voltage regulator is defective.
good luck |

good luck thanks! |
Anywhere voltage is available (directly on battery) while engine is running. A voltage monitor that plugs into cigarette lighter outlet is available at Walmart. I keep one in my lighter outlet to monitor alternator/battery health.
good luck |

good luck is there any thing else to check or any way to get it to turn off? |
Was this voltage reading at idle when light was on? What is idle speed?
