keyed lug removal
ok, this one problem plagues me with 2 cars, one I own, and one that is the junkyard. I got a car for free, and one of the previous owners (apparently a total moron) put 3 keyed lug nuts on one of the front wheels, and 1 on the other front (all 4 wheels are the same). the point is, they didn't supply the key to my friend that I got the car from, is there a way to get these off without damaging the wheels? similar sit. in the jy (slightly more intelligent, only one on each wheel) but it appears to be one of the honda ones. Is there a way to contact honda to get the key for it? I want those ones for future use. Thanks for the help guys...and gals
Also this might be the answer...Irwin company makes a set of bolt and nut removers that fit on your socket set and of course the Air ratchet if you have one..see if your lug-nuts are of the 3/4 " or smaller and you just may be able to get them off without damaging your wheels and studs..
Auto Zone has set of these..

ok, I checked out irwin's site, I'm liking the lug nut remover set, BUT, is there any way to get the key for those wheels from Honda? do they change up the design of the key? if not, I can use the keyed lugs as well. thanks you guys
On this question , i'm going to let one of the Honda Dealor Techs take over on the answer to that part of the question...they would be better informed to answer that than I am..

Take a picture of them; maybe someone around here will recognize the manufacturer of those keyed nuts. Then you can try to contact the maker to see how to get a key. Maybe you'll have to prove ownership?
Hey jim, thanks for the advice, I'm about 98%sure they are factory units, talked to the honda parts guy. He said that they are acura specific, and I'd have to take the car to the nearest acura dealer (70 miles) and have them get the key to match it. I'm not that worried about keeping them in good shape if I've got to go through all of that. I checked the auto parts store, the largest bolt extractor they had was only 16mm. I think I'm gonna just drill a hole in the middle, and use a screw extractor on them.
alot of times at my old shop people would come in for OLTR (oil, lube, tire rotation) and not have the key for there wheels, why i dont know. lol anyway we would go to firestone, a whell shop with the description/drawing of the lug and usually they could find us a key for it. but im not sure if you can do that where ur at it could have been just the area i was in. ive also heard of people going to oriellys and getting lug keys. sorry if no help.
I'm sure I could probably do that, but the whole premise of wanting to not destroy those lugs was to be used on my car. Went to order an easy out set from advance using the whole "pay online, pick-up in store" thing, DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE. Just giving fair warnig to everybody. None of the stores have any records of the purchase being made, but it has been authorized through the website. They didn't even have them in stock to begin with, go figure, argh!!
