Low speed brake scrape (e-brake?)
I had my brakes an rotors changes a little over a year ago. Over the last 6 months or so I've notices a rhythmic scraping noise at a low speed when braking. It's not the normal "time to replace pads" noise but more like a pece of sheet metal is lightly touching something on every revolution of the wheel. It happens if I press the brake OR pull up the emergency brake but doesn't happen if I coast. My guess is that it is emergency brake related and has something to do with the new rotor and the emergency brake hub. Whatever it is it seems to be getting worse. Like I said, it's not the typical "replace your brake" noise.

I forgot some info.

You could have a shim out-of-position, or caliper pin that is frozen. This can cause pad to wear unevenly and get to "steel on steel" early. You need to remove wheel and inspect pads, shims, and caliper pins closely.
Caliper pin boots may need replacement and pins cleaning and regreasing. good luck |

i would get the suspension looked at Nope.. Maybe the recording doesn't make it clear enough. It only happens when the brakes are pressed. You can only hear it at low speed. It's almost like on one side of the rotor there is a piece of metal that rubs on something so every revolution of the wheel you hear the scrape. I'll jack it up tonight and put it on the stands and see if I can find what is rubbing. |
same with my passenger rear wheel, but my pad is low so thats likely my prob
