malfunction indicator lamp
I'm in the UK and own an Accord 2.0 SE Exec 02 model (auto). Yesterday the malfunction indicator light(orange symbol with a picture of an engine) came on when I started the car (I've never seen this light up before). I checked the oil and it was low, so filled it up asap (although the oil light never did light up at any point). This morning the malfunction indicator still came on when I started up, although the car is drivingnormally without a problem. How long should I wait to see if the light clears? If it doesn't clear, what is the next step I should take to find out what the problem is?
Any help appreciated. Thanks. |
RE: malfunction indicator lamp
Maintenance req'd is an oil change timer. The reset procedure is in the manual. Low oil pressure will only come on when it is basically empty. If it's a check engine light, get the codes read and post them.

RE: malfunction indicator lamp
choochoo,
This is the same indicator I just had; I had it scanned last night and turns out it's an oxygen sensor. You need to have it scanned... Rob C 2003 LX 4-cyl. AT |
RE: malfunction indicator lamp
Thx for the replies. Would any garage be able to scan it, or is this something I have to take to a Honda dealer?

RE: malfunction indicator lamp
choochoo,
Most garages have "universal" scan units, many part stores even have them. After having it scanned, post your code on this forum. You will get the information that you need...I did! Rob C |
RE: malfunction indicator lamp
Aaron, the MIL on newer model Hondas and Acuras is the same as the CEL, it's not the maintenance minder light.
x2 on getting it scanned and posting the codes up. They should be PXXXX. |
RE: malfunction indicator lamp
I don't have the full error code yet (the mechanic could not remember it off the top of his head) but the first 2 digits are "11", does this help anyone as to what the problem might be?

RE: malfunction indicator lamp
Full error code is 1167, a sensor that is going to cost £140 from Honda. Does this sound about right?

RE: malfunction indicator lamp
Just bumping to see if anyone can help with the error code.

RE: malfunction indicator lamp
A search on Google says that it means that you need a new O2 sensor. Please search before you bump.
