Manual transmission leak around linkage on top
 

I have a 2000 EX 4 cylinder 5 speed mt. I noticed that I have a leak, it's been there for awhile because there is crud on the case. I'm going to clean it off and see how much is leaking. The tranny fluid level is up, so the leak has to be fairly small. I noticed a small amount of oil under the car in the past couple of days which led me to find the leak. If the leak is small, should I just keep on trucking?

Oil leaks seem to leave a lot of drip marks w/o any loss of oil level.

Call around some auto parts stores - one of them will sell an aluminum drip pan to keep the marks off the garage floor.
These are 2' x 3' giant cookie sheets and cost ~ $25.

Upon further examination, it looks like it's the oil seal item #15. How difficult is it to replace that seal?

I would like to know how I get part #8 out of the transmission. I have to replace the same seal and can't figure out how to get it out. I see a hole in the rod. Is there a pin in it?

You need to crack open bolt 3. I think it's an allen. It allows you to remove that entire top assembly. I think 12 is actually what holds that shaft in.

You may as well replace 14 as well. It's a seal. However you need to put that top assembly in a vice and tap out a pin first. This isn't a big deal if you choose not to take it on as part 8 is the bigger concern and reason for your leak so you can choose not to replace it.
