Mild whine in engine

Hi to all. I'm pretty. New to this forum. My car is an 03 accord v6 with 163xxx miles. Recently I heard a bit or a whine coming from what seems to be somewhere in the pulley assembly (rpm's go up it gets a bit louder). I know the car is due for a serpentine belt. Any thoughts on this?

If it is a whine mainly when it is cold, it may be the o-ring for the power steering pump, easy fix if it is that. If it is a whine noise even at other times, it may be the serpentine belt.

The auto-tensioner for the drive belt (aka serpentine belt) has a gauge on it to check the belt tension. If it is out-of-range, the belt should be changed. However, sometimes you may get noise even before it is out-of-range.

Checking the drive belt should not just be based on the gauge on the auto-tensioner, you would look for cracks or damage on the belt too. Additionally, sometimes the grooves get deeper due to wear, which is hard to tell unless you had a belt wear gauge. You can order a free belt wear gauge from Gates for use in the future.
