Good day to you all in the house. Some months back ago i did a scan on my honda accord 1998 it throws out code P1456. I know it has to do with the fuel system but i need more interpretation on the code. I am sensing that the car is consuming fuel of recent. could this code be responsible for excessive fuel intake. i also know that bad spark plugs can leads to this kind of problem. If it is true that there is problem with the fuel system(P1456) what are the steps to be taken to correct it and minimize fuel consumption? Your help will be greatly appreciated thanks- DR. Check your fuel cap. Does the rubber ring have cracks in it?

When you fuel up and close the cap, Are you clicking it 3 times?

When my daughter had the code, there was a bit of a gas smell when getting out of the car. a little bit worse gas mileage.

Other people may not notice anything, other than the SEL.

Try getting a new gas cap. You have nothing to lose ($5 or so).

Try clearing the code and see if it come back.
