working on this car and i have these code(s) being thrown at me. i would like to know at how tackle it would in fixing the problem ....

P0848 3rd clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (short or stuck OFF)
P0873 4th clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (short or stuck OFF)

P0848 and P0873 are electrical circuit problems and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the transmission.

Unless you had a diagnostic tool and software like HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) hooked up while driving the car, you can’t easily tell whether the 3rd and 4th pressure switches turned on.

The following tests are only to check for the voltage coming from the PCM to the switches. The following are not direct test of the switches themselves.

P0848:
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the connector for the 3rd clutch transmission fluid pressure switch.
3. Turn ignition switch ON.
4. Measure voltage between the switch connector terminal and body ground. There should be about 5 volts; if there is about 5 volts that means the voltage coming from the PCM through the wiring is okay.
5. If there wasn’t about 5 volts, then next you would check for a problem in the wiring (from PCM to switch connector). Measure for voltage of about 5 volts between PCM connector terminal pin C5 and body ground. If there is about 5 volts at PCM pin C5, then it is a wiring problem. If there isn’t about 5 volts at PCM pin C5, then it is a PCM related problem (such as a loose terminal pin, PCM software or PCM problem).

P0873:
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the connector for the 4th clutch transmission fluid pressure switch.
3. Turn ignition switch ON.
4. Measure voltage between the switch connector terminal and body ground. There should be about 5 volts; if there is about 5 volts that means the voltage coming from the PCM through the wiring is okay.
5. If there wasn’t about 5 volts, then next you would check for a problem in the wiring (from PCM to switch connector).
