Need help with dead radio screen
I have a 2004 Honda Accord with AM/FM/CD/NAV and the screen has been dead since the day we picked it up, although the radio and CDplays (although we don't have an idea of the station, track or AC/heat settings). The "stealer" that we bought it from said it was an easy fix and should only cost $30.00 but so far everyone wants to sell me a new, complete unit.
Is it an "easy fix" as they said? Is it someting I can check or do myself? PLEASE - I'm desperate! Thanks so much... Jennifer |
RE: Need help with dead radio screen
Call Honda of Americacustomer serviceand ask for a goodwill replacement. This is a known issue in 2003 and some 2004 models. They may meet you halfway or cough up for the whole thing......or may decline but it's worth a try. It's not a $30 fix.

RE: Need help with dead radio screen
Yet another one post wonder that doesn't even return for damn good advice...........amazing ain't it?
Ta Ta Jennifer wherever you may be- |
RE: Need help with dead radio screen
Oh come on it's only been 3 days, some people don't log on more than once a week and it probably isn't an important issue.
On another note, yes, ask for the goodwill replacement. My mom talked to the top dog at Buerkle Honda here in MN and he went all the way up to the regional manager just to get us a goodwill replacement and waive the $3500 they were asking for a new unit. |

She said she was desperate for help right? Sounds pretty urgent to me!

It helped me out
Hey old bird, your post helped me out, and I am forever grateful. I have the same problem with the radio/climate control head. If I cannot get the dealer to meet me half way are there many to be found in salvage for a plug and play replacement?
Also are the condenser problems with the 03' also present in the 04's? My GF was driving it the other day, reported a "hissing" noise and then no A/C, The condenser fan comes on but I don't think the compressor is engaging. Any help is appreciated |
JAFO, try making a new thread over in General Tech for the air-conditioner problem.
Actually it sounds like something broke & all the refrigerant leaked out. There's a pressure switch to prevent the compressor from running (& destroying itself) when there's no pressure. |
Yeah I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst, I have access to an evacuator filler, thank god,
I'll check the A/C thread, I need to know how much should be in there, I'ts getting cold in KS right now, so at least I am not in a rush! |
UPDATE,
Armed with Old birds service bulletin and a few phone calls I have found out that honda has extended the warrenty on this part to 100K, So ours is getting replaced for free. |
