need help picking out parts to order.
so i just bought a 02 accord ex coupe 4 cylinder 2.3l last week. has 121k miles. took it to a mechanic shop today to get it checked out to make sure everything was ok.
so heres what he said, timing belt hasn't been replaced so i need,
transmission fluid flushed because its a dark brown and not red,
front motor mount because its broke,
crankshaft ( dunno what it is but its on the paperwork)
timing belt
timing cover seal
water pump
two belts for my air condition? not sure which belts they were but he said they were cracked.
the shop he works at wrote down $864+tax for timing belt with water pump, cam seal, timing cover seal.
$140+tax for front motor mount
and $140 for transmission flush kit.
i have some mechanic friends who could do this under the table for me if i order the needed parts. could you guy help me pick out everything i need? im guessing ill want oem? and how much should be paid to a mechanic doing this under the table for me labor wise? 200-400?

Here are the items that are fairly simple to DIY:
1. Change transmission fluid.
2. Two accessory belts
3. Front motor mount
Do NOT have the transmission flushed. Drain and refill using Honda ATF. FYI: The 98-02 transmissions were know to have premature failures.
The price for the timing belt is fairly reasonable. You can call around to other shops to get an estimate for the work.

i would also take it to another shop for a "good car" inspection like you did at the shop you went to, also very important is look around the store, check out what the shop is like as a whole, ive noticed in my area, the flashier it is inside the worse the works gonna be and where its less flashy even say boring, is usually a better shop, as they dont need appeal to get a customer, check reviews on the shop. i have had 95% of work done at shops to be bad experiences, either expensive 'like charging major labor for a water pump when your also doing a timing belt", wrong repairs, or even make the problem worse! it took me about year to find a shop thats inexpensive, and gets the job done fast and correctly. personally i only bring my car in wheni cant fix it myself.
not trying to scare anybody, just know the shop that will have your car is all...

I know poorman is referring to me.
If the cost for the OEM Honda part is comparable to the aftermarket part, then I go with OEM Honda parts. Ebay has some TB kits that have OEM honda parts.
If you go with aftermarket parts, do not get the stuff that has no brand name (like some stuff you would find on Ebay). The aftermarket brands carried by most of the chain auto parts stores like Gates, Bando, Beck Arnley, etc... are aftermarket brands I would trust.
It is probably a good time to get a valve cover gasket. For aftermarket parts, I like the FelPro brand.
