Need some advice

I have just received my brothers 1985 accord, with the 1.8 carb engine that he has recently had rebuilt. All the vacuum lines plus the control box has been removed, and they have installed a weber carburetor that supposedly is the correct one for this car. My question is, can I get this car to run good without the control box and with only basic vacuum lines ? I would assume they would be, distributor, heater control, and cruise control. Emissions are not a consideration where he lives. Thanks for any help.

Is there a reason that no one has replied to my question ? Is this even posted ?

Yes, your post is publicly available; the issue might simply be there are precious few folks still wrenching who were familiar with a 35 year old Accord. Have some patience.

It posted. You likely didn't get a reply because most people on here aren't familiar with carburetors or 85 accords (me included).

I'd suggest verifying you have the correct Weber carb installed. Do you know the functions handled by the control box? You may want to look at the carburetor instructions to see what is required for it to operate properly.

LOL, I'm more than old enough to have worked on carbureted Hondas, but by the mid-1980s I'd moved on to exclusively fuel injected cars. I don't think I've ever so much as even lifted the hood of a 1985 Accord.

Yeah, my carburators were 67 VW and 72 Datsun. I could help with those...
I looked at 1 or 2 parts drawings from the 85 Honda, but besides showing some hose routing it wasn't always real clear what the FUNCTION of the hoses were.

Anyone have a shop manual for those cars?

Yup, same here, well except the Datsun. ;) I do have a 65 VW with stock dual carbs, and a 71 VW here also with aftermarket dual carbs, but everything else is factory fuel injected including 2 other air cooled VWs.
Since you have a Weber carb on it, I'd suggest you contact someone like Redline Weber, or the dealer who sold your brother that carb. Maybe they can help.

At least if someone like that can provide you with a list of vacuum lines that the carburetor needs, then we can start from there.

Vacuum lines

Thanks to all who answered my post. I know this car is an oddball, but my brother has already sunk way too much money into it. I guess I'll just do what I can to help him out. Thanks again for the replies.

Here's 3 parts pictures that I found. Without a shop manual, I don't know how to tell what each vacuum hose actually does.
