New Battery - Car Dies and loses all power

Hey,

My 1995 Honda Accord was having some battery issues. Seemed to be losing power, but the car would still turn over. When it finally got cold here in Utah, it just stopped working all together. So I got a jump and went down to have it tested. They told me it was a bad battery. I bought a new battery, installed it and the car has worked great for one day. Then last night I went to go get in, turned the key, the dash lite up and then everything died. All power was gone. So I got a jump and got it started. But once I turned it off and went to start it again the same thing happened.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

It's always possible to get a bad battery right out of the box, but I'm suspicious about the test that said it's a bad battery.

Maybe your alternator isn't keeping the battery charged, which in turn ruined your old battery. So maybe they tested the battery, discovered it was "bad", then didn't bother to test your charging system??

Sounds like a bad connection or an alt/charging issue. Got a DVM?

Connections at all ends of the bat cables are clean and tight, correct?

Before starting, what is the voltage on the battery?

When it is running, what is the voltage-yes I know amp's are different-at the battery~should be getting something @ 14.5v.
