New F22B1, looking into head work and cam?
 

Hey there, okay so I have a 95 accord, 5 speed trans, and am currently putting in a stage 2 clutch kit and light weight flywheel. I am looking into porting and polishing the head from my old motor (has about 270k miles), I'm also looking for a nice camshaft, bisi is pricey, so I'm wondering if theres cheaper priced? I'm also wondering if its a waste of time to work on a head with 270,000+ miles on it? Would it be highly recommended to do springs and valvee(ext.) if so? One more thing, i wanted to boost the stock F22b1, and obviously not push past 6-8 psi, any cheap kits that aren't outstandingly expensive?

Bisi is the only place I know of that makes cams for the F series engine. Their prices also seem in line with other major cam makers.

As long as the seals are replaced and the head is cleaned up(including resurfacing) the miles don't really matter.

What cam you get will depend on if its turbo or not, so I wouldn't buy one now if you plan on turboing it.

There is a saying int he car world: cheap, fast, reliable, choose any two. If you choose cheap and fast then you aren't going to get reliability, and probably end up spending more in the long run.

The cheap ebay kits will do their job for a little while, but the turbo isnt going to last. I would piece together a kit, making sure to get a good turbo, blow off valve, and waste gate. Piping is just piping so that can be ebay brand without much worry. And of course engine management is the most important part.

I see, what I was looking into doing, was cleaning up the head from the old motor, and cam'ing it with a Level 1.2, F22B/F23/F20B SOHC Turbo regrind, vtec(bisimoto url) and when I find/piece together a turbo kit, put it all on at once, I didn't think about piecing together a kit, thats a great idea, what size turbo would I want to go with/be the best on what will be a cammed f22b1 head? I haven't looked into engine managment yet... any suggestions?

Something in the 50-60 trim range should do fine.

Hondata is probably the best, but any chipped ECU with a proper tune will do.

Also don't forget to upgrade your injectors, stock won't be able to supply for even low boost applications.

When you put your head on, I would definitely invest in ARP head studs, only cost like $40 more than the stock bolts do(not suppose to reuse head bolts) and are much better. With 8psi or more you run the risk of lifting the head without them.
