Default wet carpet

for a while now I've been noticing any time it rains or the car gets wet, ONLY the carpet on the drivers floor is always wet or damp. Actually, this has been going on probably since I bought the car almost 6 years ago. Today I finally pulled up the carpet and removed some of the plastic pieces and the metal itself looked ok. I did notice right under the fuse box there was some crusty stuff. I lifted up some of the rubber behind the pedals and it was damp as well. Perhaps the water is coming in through there. I was thinking about cleaning the area and shooting some silicone or marine sealant in there. help!

vehicle is a 1996 accord lx

Check all firewall penetrations for defects (missing grommet or missing item) that might allow water to enter.

To check around the windshield will require removing windshield trim which requires a special tool (available at auto parts) to release. Look for a rust hole through the body in the glass recess.

good luck

thanks. I don't wanna go crazy with anything but I'll definitely try and see what I can see. For now I'm gonna let it dry up if my patience allows lol
