No heat from '05 V6

All,

My wife said she had no heat on her way home this evening. She said the car was running perfectly fine and the air itself was blowing fine out of the vents, but when she turned the auto climate control to 72, there was no heat. She then turned it all the way up and she said it was "room temperature" at best. This is the first I've heard of the problem from her, so it must have just happened very recently.

I have searched on here and found some possible culprits may be the heater control valve or the mechanism behind the knob itself. I don't know what these parts look like that I need to check. I've never had to deal with the climate control system before. I'm really hoping the heater core is OK and it's just a simple fix. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction as to what I need to check and what these parts look like/where they're located? It's a 2005 V6 sedan with 115k miles on it if that helps. Thanks!

Does this have auto HVAC? If so check for codes.

The heater control valve will be under the hood, on the firewall, towards the pass/right side/

^^ Yes, it's got auto climate control. It's been pretty warm here the last few days, so it hasn't been a big problem yet. However, I don't want the temps to drop below freezing and the wife having no heat - not good. She has the car right now, but I'll be looking into this tomorrow afternoon.

Most likely not the heater core, that wouldn't go from working to not working so quickly.

I suspect it is going to be the auto climate controls - not sure what it will take to fix as I have no experence working on that system.

On the 7th and 8th generation Accords, IIRC, you can retrieve the trouble code by a certain sequence, shouldn't matter if the car has auto-climate controls or not. I will see if I can find the sequence related to your 7th gen.

Ok, found it, see link for procedure:

Sorry it's been a little bit since I've reported back. Seems that the heat started working again the day after my last post. I'm assuming the heater control valve just got temporarily stuck. The wife hasn't noticed any issues since then. Thanks to everyone for all of your help. Greatly appreciated!
