Oil leak-broke after Christmas, please help
I have a 1997 honda accord with an oil leak when the engine is running. It is leaking near the front passenger side. Looks like its coming out of a box shaped thing. What could this be?

valve cover or distributor o-ring, post some pics if you can.

I can't figure out how to add pictures. My husband says it could be minor but it could be very major. Yesterday the oil pressure light came on, today I added oil and drove around the block. No light, but I looked underneath and saw oil leaking.

don't keep driving it if you're adding oil to keep the pressure light off. tell your husband to man up, put down the beer and look under the hood and find out where the leak is coming from and get it fixed ;)

Lol. He's at work and said he will look at it tomorrow when he has the day off. I'm just anxious that it will cost a lot of money to fix. I'm not a patient woman either. I stopped driving it yesterday and was hoping filling up the oil would be a quick and simple fix. Thanks.

glad you have a sense of humor, good move not driving it ;)

I'm not particularly familiar with this engine, unless it's the 2.3L Vtec or non, but is the Oil Pressure Switch on that side of the engine underneath the distributor? These are known to leak, especially with how much of a leak she seems to be describing. Wouldn't think the distributor o-ring would create a huge leak without that much oil pressure located there.

i guess we never determined if this was a 4 cylinder engine. but lets go with that assumption. the oil switch would be at the back of the block above the oil filter around the center of the engine.

The oil filter housing needs to be replaced. Any idea on cost at a reputable/trustworthy shop?

Is this a four or six cylinder accord?
