Oil overfilled? what to do?
I have a 97 accord se without vtec. I just got an oil change, and when the engine is off and fairly cooled down, the dipstick reads a little bit above the last dot or perforation on the dipstick. I am guessing it was possibly overfilled no more than a half quart. Its Mobil 1 syn 5-30 oil if that makes any difference. This isnt my first car, though it is my first honda/japanese car, and it has no leaks, and no obvious problems, and 170k miles, and I need it to last as long as possible.
How much overfilling of oil will warrant a problem or leak? If this is a potential problem, how would I deal with this? Undo the drain plug, or what? Please help. Thanks in advance. -Scott |
RE: Oil overfilled? what to do?
that little of an overfill is not going to cause any problems,,,,,,,however if you want to drain some, remove the drain plug and drain a little bit

I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, don't worry about that. It'll be fine.
Kudos for keeping a close eye on your car's levels though. That's the kind of foresight that catches problems before they start. |
