Oil in spark plug leak...AGAIN! :(

Hi y'all, sorry for being a newbie here but I am going nuts with the same oil leak problem that gets me every fall.....I can't be the only one with this problem...and my mechanics have yet to cure it: The motor starts to run like crap and when I pull the plugs: the wire and tunnel accesing the plug, along with the plug itself, are all coated in oil...how can this really be fixed?Any tech help, part numbers and diagrams to make it easy for my mechanics, would be seriously appreciated.....I dearly love my 1992 accord wagon, that I bought and drove from FLA to Montreal...so I am here asking for the real answers, and in advance, thanks to all who can help...:)

Tube seals are leaking.....can't remember if the 4th gen had upper and lower.

Exactly what engine/trim do you have LX, DX or EX. That will help in the "upper/lower" conversation.

thanks poorman...it is a 2.2 motor..lx, or ex...should be all the same motor..

Here is a youtube video on how to fix it..

1992 does have the lower seals, but you might want to just change the upper seals (part of the valve-cover gasket set) and see if that fixes the leak.

You'll probably get the lower seals also in the valve-cover gasket set, but they're a lot more difficult to change because you have to remove the valve gear and camshaft-bearing caps.

I just found this on the middle 2 plugs on my 97 LX. The valve cover bolts were loose a bit, so I tightened them up a bit and I'll check it again in a little bit.

Does the '97 LX have just upper seals? If so, I'll put a new set in since it's a simple process.

Steve, LX has both.....EX only the one. As jim said, try the upper first and see what you have from there.

DX, LX vs EX....IMHO, there are differences.

Another way, the vtec vs non vtec.

I think they were all non-VTEC in 1992? Anyway, I looked at EX & LX parts pictures, and they both had the lower seals.
