overflow tank

93 Accord 5 speed

at 250k I had a new old motor put in due to head gasket
symptoms were overheating, coolant oozing from overflow tank, confirmed by compression test

45k on second motor in 2 yrs, and it does the same thing just very slowly. I add a cup or two to radiator every month, no leaks, it's def going into overflow tank

bad head gasket just not too bad? or anything else it could be?

also it seems like the heat is way hotter than it should be at all times , nice in winter , and the after-car-off fan runs every time I shut the car off, every time. maybe I need a better thermostat.

Look at the 2nd post in that thread.

Fan switch in the upper radiator hose might be bad? If it thinks the engine is hot, it'll run the fan after you shut off the car. A good test is start the stone-cold engine and run it for 30 seconds then shut off.

Check your radiator cap. If one of the seals or the mating surfaces in the radiator neck has a scratch or something, it'll leak into the overflow bottle. Then suck air back into the radiator instead of sucking coolant back in.
