Power steering pump O ring

I am about to change the pumps' main O ring, in car, and need to know if there are any spring loaded components to watch out for after removing the front cover

I want to know if there are any downsides to doing the procedure WITHOUT removing the pump.

if you decide to remove the pulley I think it might be left hand thread.
