Is Prestone AF2000 coolant OK to use?
 
Hi,

A friend of mine had radiator flush done on his 96 Accord and the mechanic usedPrestone AF2000 coolant.Apparentlyit claims to be safefor all makes and models.

Has anyone here has experirnce with this, is Prestone AF2000safe/compatible with Honda waterpump?

This appears to be their standard extended life antifreeze. Prestone website does not identify an AF2000 product that I could find. I've used Prestone AF for years w/o problems.

If the bottle says anything about DexCool, you should probably NOT leave it in for the full 10 years or whatever the bottle claims. Also, it seems DexCool doesnt play nice with other types. So when you go to change it next time, make sure you rinse ALL of it out completely.

The good stuff to get these days is called Hybrid OAT (look for that in the fine print on the label). Its usually labeled as being compatible with ALL CARS, ALL TYPES of antifreeze.

Thanks for the replies.

Hechecked the bottle it says safe for all makes and models and can be mixed with any color coolant.
It also says it does not contain Silicate, Borate, Nitrate. I know there has been concerns with collant containing Silicates damaging Honda water pumps sealls. So he should be O.K. for a few years.
