Question about changing shocks
 
Hi eveyrone,

I am about to change shocks on my accord model is in my signature and I was wondering if it would be good to change all the bushings, mounting plates, an other related partsthat is in the assembly. I plan on using the same springs.

Here are some picture


Onthe front shocks it would be #5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

On the rear shocks it would be #1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18

i honestly dont see a reason to, but if you felt the need to. i would think of buying new springs before all of those smaller parts.

When my '93 Accord had 150,000 miles on it, I called the Honda dealer about purchasing new struts for it. They asked me if my car was in an accident and if the Strut was bent. I said no. They then asked if there was fluid leaking out of the strut, again I said no. They then told me that I don't need to get new shocks and why I wanted to replace them. I said I thought 150,000 miles was a long time on a shock. They said Honda struts only need to be replaced if they are leaking or physically damaged in an accident.

I now have 254,000 miles on the same shocks. No abnormal wear on my tires or rough ride. I plan on keeping them.

I would recomend to change the struts if you plan on doing some track speeds,or racing.

But for a daily driver, not really necessary.

I agree. Honda shocks can take a beating, I had 233k on my shocks on my 95, still damping today. The shocks are my 99 with 183k still drive like it just came out of the factory.
