quick lighting question - 9012 HIRs

Quick question from a newbie...

Does a 1997 Accord SE have the necessary bulb shield for installing 9012 (mod) headlight bulbs? I was ready to order a pair for my daughter's car until I saw the cautions about insuring a bulb shield. I just looked and it appears there's a silver covering over the low beam bulbs. Is this the bulb shield?

Has anyone done this upgrade on this model of Accord?

Thanks !

As long as you get the Philips 9012 HIR bulbs, you probably are fine for your daughter's car. (The older Toshiba 9012 bulbs may give clearance problems.) The 97 does have that shield in the headlight assembly, similar to my 2009 Accord. I have Philips 9012 bulbs in my Accord. I had a 95 Accord before and I cannot foresee any problems putting in the Philips 9012.
