R&R Rack and Pinion

Hey everyone. I am a new guy here and am in need of some help.
I have a 99 Accord LX 2.3l 4 door. My rack is leaking on the left side. I have another one, but am not too sure how to get the old one out. I tried to get the online manuals, but the site will not email me so I can activate the account. I have been trying for a while and I can't afford to go buy one.
I have to fix it. My landlord said if I keep leaking oil on the drive we are gone.
Anyone who can help it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn

I am not sure which site you are using.

The spoon honda site linked in the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section does not require you to log in. Click on the manuals link towards the right side of the page. The 98-02 accord manual that they have is an .iso file. You have to burn that image to a CD in order for it to work.

BE SURE TO LOCK THE STEERING WHEEL CENTERED.
The reel under the airbag will get damaged otherwise.

Carefully measure from a fixed point on the sub-frame to the center of the outer tie rod ball joint stud, BEFORE you take any parts loose.

I would suggest 1) putting a drip pan under the leaking rack boot each time you stop at your apartment, and 2) installing a can of Lucas PS Stop Leak. I've had this completely fix one leaking rack on a Toyota Avalon that had a steady drip. If you are careful to catch the drips, perhaps landlord will wait on the stop leak to fix (no garuntee, but worth a try).

good luck
