Rattle coming from rear deck - 2012 EXL V6

I just bought a 2012 Accord EXL V6. I love the car but a rattle coming from the rear deck near the center speaker is driving me crazy. It's not being caused by bass, although I can duplicate the noise by cranking up the sub. The sound also occurs with the stereo off when I'm driving. Anyone else experience this? I have seen others talk about it with slightly older models. Anyone have a solution?

The Honda technical service bulletin for the rear shelf rattle on rough roads:

For rattle with bass:

i got the same problem, how did you solve it

on a 2012 I would let the dealer solve it . that said look and see if the stuff in the trunk is loose spare , jack etc. also climb in the trunk and see if you can move anything back there

The general fixes are in the above Honda TSB links. If the car is still under warranty, then they would be covered.

Pull out the rear brake light bulb. the center one in the rear window. That's your problem, I pulled it out, the rattle is gone. Now just gotta find some kind of non-permanent putty, for sound absorption.

So I haven't been here in a while...here's an update on my situation. I had the dealer fix it per the service bulletin in October. That seemed to work for a while. But now the rattle is back and probably worse than it was before. I took it back to the dealer and they claimed to not hear it. So I took the service guy for a ride to show him. He said the next step, if it doesn't go away, is to replace the rear deck. That seems a bit extreme, especially since it seems to be a widespread problem. I guess I'm gonna try the brake light fix and see if that works.
