Rearview mirror reflections
2002 Accord EX
Weird problem, noticed as I was driving "new" car home last night. Can't be me, cause didn't have this effect with prior cars. After dark, with mirror day or night position get same effect. All the reflected headlights have about 4 short lines above and below each headlight (?!) Calls to local service dept were useless, although the third guy was pleasant and said to bring it in - problem, mechanics leave at 4pm and it's not dark yet..... I'm assuming it has something to do with the imbedded defroster in rear view window. Hope someone can figure this one out - it's VERY distracting, esp since I drive in NYC traffic! thanks |
RE: Rearview mirror reflections
Do the lines radiate from the headlights or are they horizontal?

RE: Rearview mirror reflections
have you tried wiping down the rearview mirror to make sure there is no oil on it?
|
RE: Rearview mirror reflections
they are horizontal, above and below the actual headlight
|
RE: Rearview mirror reflections
no. but perhaps I need to clarify - the exterior mirrors are fine, no relection. It's the interior rearview; looks clean, but i will bring some windex next trip to parking lot :-)
while I'm at it, I'll clean the rear window, but I don't really think it's that - the lines are too regular spacing-wise, and on every light, too. |
RE: Rearview mirror reflections
do you have rear tint??? I do and sometimes I get the same effect. Since the tint doesn't reall stick to the immediate top and bottom of the defroster, it causes a bit of extra refraction.
