red oil(?) indicator sometimes flashes
I sometimes notice that the red oil indicator flashes. I notice it especially when I brake.
Anyone an idea what that could be?
I drive a Honda Accord 2003 coupe v6 stick.
Thanks!

first thing is to check your oil level and bring it up to the full mark.
if it's low any 5W-30 oil from the neighborhood store is OK.
don't know your car understanding ... so - the red oil pressure warning
is the most important warning ($$) on the car, don't let it signal actual low oil level.

My $0.02... Have you been changing your oil every 3,750 miles? That is the recommended oil change interval for the 2003-2007 Accords in severe driving condition (which all of us fall into).
You will also find in the manual a section that explains what each indicator means. The red oil light means the oil pressure is very low and your engine might be in serious trouble and damage might already been done. I'm not saying that's what happened in your case, but you should take action immediately and avoid driving long distances until you figure out exactly what causes the light to come on. Good luck!

ok, I checked the oil with the dipstick (put out, wiped it, then put it back in and out and it was TOTALLY DRY!!!) that really shocked me...
so I went to JiffyLube right away.
They did an oil change, I let them put in the HighMileage oil(they say it should last 5000 miles?) and they did it for $56 (+put air in my tires which were all low and added windshield liquid).
It seems that the Maint' Req'd icon and change oil indicator don't go on anymore.
They also said that my transmission fluid is low (he said it's on about 1.5 something and it should be at least on 2.3?) and that the reason why the dip stick was dry is that I have gunk in my engine - that I need an engine flush).
He offered to do both for approx. $60, nonetheless, I decided to just go with the oil change which ended up being $56 (w/ tax and a $10 discount).
Was that a decent price for the HighMileage oil? (regular would've been $20 cheaper).
what about the prices for the transmission fluid and engine flush?
Can I do at least the transmission fluid myself?
IF yes, please tell me how and which one to get.
Thank you very much!

btw, my last oil change was 3000 miles ago and they of course changed the oil filter too...
also, my car feels smoother now (I suppose it was the deflated tires)...
and they also mentioned that if I change the transmission fluid, changing gears will be smoother and I will have more power) was that their way to try to buy me in? lol... they of course tried lowering the price etc.

My oil light has been flashing randomly as well. I recently removed/re-installed the oil pan so I dont know if this is related. I put 4 quarts in it 24 hours after the job to let the silicone dry. There are no leaks what so ever. Can someone shoot me in the right direction please? Would the red oil light come on if I needed gear oil? I know the gear oil is slowly leaking.

Changing the trans fluid is just as important as engine oil, IMO. Not knowing what level skills you have, hard for me to say if you can do it? I suggest using Honda trans fluid, you can get it from the dealer or some parts stores (to date I've only seen it at carquest). If you've never done it or the fluid is really dark you might have to do at least two drain and fill cycles-driving a bit between these changes.
