Default stripped bumper bracket

Okay...this has been a work in progress (approximately 4 weeks in the making). I have recently replaced my passenger headlight and in the process discovered that my vehicle must have been in a previous wreck. Reason: 1. Paint job done poorly (overspray underneath left headlight assembly) 2. Poor body work as indicated by missing bumper bolts (which was the reason for the slightly loose bumper) along with one of the bumper bracket bolts severely bent and stripped. As a result of this, when I try to use a replacement bumper bracket bolt it acts as if it fits and then...it slips and is loose all over again...i.e.--stripped bumper bracket. Alas, here is the question, can I replace the bumper bracket and if so can I or do I need to order a new bumper bracket bolt? Second question, how hard is this going to be...do I need to have a body shop do this for me? Thanks for any help as I really need it...and I really want to get back to driving my car. Thanks again.

Default RE: stripped bumper bracket

I must have been long winded with the question. Basically, all I need to know is: can one take the bumper bracket off the frame or is it welded on. Thanks anyone.
