repair vs. replace wisdom
 

I'm considering repairing my power steering rack instead of replacing it. I don't have any specialty tools like pullers or a press. Does anyone know what tools are required to dismantle a PS rack for an 89 accord lxi and relace all the parts in a "power steering rack kit"?

I haven't read of anyone attempting this job. There is a video on youtube of a "partial" rebuild. He did not open the main ps drive motor.


A cheaper and perhaps easier option would be to find a good used rack to replace yours rather than attempt a rebuild.

I've attempted a few jobs I wished I had not started. I hope this is not one of those type.

good advice. I'm hesitant to do the rebuild as I have never done anything like it before. I know just the place to call for a used one tomorrow. In the mean time...Happy Labor Day and thanks for the input.
