rising temphile parked

I have a 1998 accord ex 4 cyl and i am losing coolant. it is going intothe overflow. the temp gauge shows normal when traveling, but when stop at a light or traffic it rises. i have let it run to find if it is leaking any where else and have not found an thing. I have checked the rad and found no coolr hot spots. does any one have any suggestions.

Two common issues.

Are BOTH cooling fans on the radiator coming on?

Are you sure there is no air traped in the cooling system, there is a bleeder valve to help with this.

where is this value located?

When your car is overheating at a light or traffic, it is indicative that one or more of the cooling fans are not operating properly.

First, check coolant level in radiator and reservoir, then check that the fans are working. Turn on A/C, does both fans (attached to the radiator) turn on? The fan on the driver side is the A/C condenser fan, the fan on the passenger side is the radiator fan.

yes, both fans ar e on. I took the upper hose off and it has helped some. It didn't do it today, but i still have some fluid lost to the resovier. i will try the bleed

The bleeder is near the t-stat housing, where the lower hose connects to the engine. Follow the proper procedure.
