Rotors
 

Hey All!
A long time ago I asked how much to replace the rotors ($500ish) vs resurfacing ($150ish). My question is how hard is it to remove the rotors? My best friends dad works at a Chevy dealership and resurfaces rotors among trillions of other things. So being a domestic guy that he is, would he know how to remove the rotors and would they be nearly the same as a chevys? Thanks!:D

i belevie yours are pressed on...and you need a special tool to remove them...i think there was a posting about it awhile back...what did your search churn up?

Its the labor, not the parts that makes it expensive to do brakes on your car.

Would Advance Auto, or Autozone have the tool to remove the rotor? I know they have some specialty tools for the rent thingy.

In the "HAF Help and Suggetion Center" forum there is a thread entitled "Location Forum". If we members could somehow take advantage of other members' tools, it may allow more members to do those DIY jobs that require them.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, postal code T6J 4G7. Do you happen to live anywhere near me? If so, you could drop by and we could change your rotors in no time flat.

Arg, I am in Illinois.
I may just get them resurfaced at Honda or what not.
If not, maybe you would be willing to ship the tool (I'd pay for it) and I could give you a cash/check deposit until you get the tool back?

Oh yeah, so say if I got the rotors off, do you think my friends dad would be able to resurface them?

i dont see why not, though i am not an expert by any means...a rotor is a rotor.

If you are going to pull the hub out I would just replace the rotor with a new one ($15). The hub puller only runs about $25. I just replaced mine for the first time and it was easier than I thought. Hint, loosen the rotor bolts before you pull the hub and torque them down once on the vehicle. Good luck
