RPM at highway speeds
Starting a new thread here about torque converter lockup. Dealer says he cannot verify the converter lockup on my obd1 accord. I recall on my other ones, it would turn 2700 rpms at 70 mph with the TC fully locked up. What are your numbers?

My 95 was a MT, so I don't know how they will compare. 2700 was about the rpm on my car at 70mph.
If you can find a used car lot selling 94-97 EX, you can ask to take it for a test drive and see. Not many wagons out there, but the sedan should be similar. |
I've got a 95 EX 4 cyl auto-once it locks up at 65 mph I'm at 2250 rpm's....I changed the fulid last weekend and yes before that I was running closer to 2500 rpms at 65MPH. I'm sure with a few more miles on the new fluid it will go back up..so what are you running, you say the "others" were 2700rpms. On a level road holding gas steady, or cruise on, do you ever see the tach drop ~200-250 rpms?
Anyway, what has been done. Change fluid, clean soleniods, check throttle control cable. |
My 91 and 92 both sit at 3k right 75 mph

Not sure why you are not getting lockup.
There are some TCU codes that do not flash the D4 light. If this is your 97: Have your error codes scanned at a parts store. Most do this as a free service. The connector is behind the ash tray. If this is the 94, read how to get CEL codes in the DIY section. Actually, you can do the DIY section procedure on both the 94 and the 97. Just let us know which car your are dealing with and the code(s) you get. |
I just got 73 at 2350 rpm.
