Seat Belts
A friend has a 1990 accord 4 door, and it only has lap seat belts. the automatic things are still on the door, but i think they do not move, and there is no belt/plastic latch assembly.
would it be possible to reinstall new shoulder belts, even just regular ones, not automatic? any possible way? maybe something like new door piece that slides, and put it all the way back in the engaged position, leave it there (no power/motor hooked to it) and to use the seatbelt you just reach up instead of down by your hip |
RE: Seat Belts
It's possible but how easy I don't know.... If that car ever came with standard (non automatic) seatbelts it would be a lot easier, if not then you'd need to get the assembly and mount it with some large washers/bolts to the pillar.... I don't think you'd want to use the automatic ones but that would obviously be the easiest choice is to simply re-install the factory parts...

RE: Seat Belts
So the pillar would be strong enough to bold regular non-auto ones to? Would I be able to access the inside of it to hold the nut/washer(s) in place to get it secured? I'm non familiar with the car at this point.. but we're considering a trade and I'd like to have shoulder belts for me and my girlfriend.
This is the car, http://myspace-426.vo.llnwd.net/0135...55557426_l.jpg http://myspace-892.vo.llnwd.net/0140...04129892_l.jpg http://myspace-728.vo.llnwd.net/0140...04137728_l.jpg http://myspace-828.vo.llnwd.net/0140...04141828_l.jpg http://myspace-297.vo.llnwd.net/0140...04145297_l.jpg http://myspace-385.vo.llnwd.net/0151...14667385_l.jpg http://myspace-845.vo.llnwd.net/0127...75018845_l.jpg what do you think? |
RE: Seat Belts
The pillar should be strong enough but I'm not sure how easy it would be to access the inside of the pillar...... I think an auto body shop could help you out the most in this department...
