Seat bolts torque specs
I need to remove my passenger side seat and was wondering if the bolts need to be torqued to a specific value when reinstalling. I havn't seen anything in the tech manuals that I have. Thanks ahead of time for any info.

RE: Seat bolts torque specs
I've never seen a tech specification on those.... I'm sure it exists but in every seat I've ever removed/re-installed I just tighten it down real good and I've never had any problems and I've done that on 3 different honda's... It worked for me!

RE: Seat bolts torque specs
like SIR said just tighten them up with a big rachet ,, do not waste your time with the torque specs

RE: Seat bolts torque specs
Tighten until there is a sharp rise in torque and then 1/6 turn more. That is hondas rule for unspecified torque.

RE: Seat bolts torque specs
*LOL* "...Torque spec for almost everything..." so what do you do for things that don't have a torque spec? I think that sounds like a pretty good rule of thumb if you can't find what you need, I'll agree that most everything does have a number but for seat bolts it's kind of pointless to lookup so it's a good thing to keep in mind for non-mechanical bolts...
You're both right. |
RE: Seat bolts torque specs
Forgot to add that its a 91 accord lx coupe if it matters...just thought that those bolts are rather important (ie, in the event of a collision) and was surprised that torque values aren't readily available for them. Thanks all.

RE: Seat bolts torque specs
if you look at the way that they are bolted in (the angle etc) you'll notice that under a collision incident it would pull on the bolt and have to snap the bolt before it would do anything, if they started to "rattle loose" you'd notice it... I believe that's why they aren't as concerned about it as you might think..
