ORIGINAL: sir_nasty if you look at the way that they are bolted in (the angle etc) you'll notice that under a collision incident it would pull on the bolt and have to snap the bolt before it would do anything, if they started to "rattle loose" you'd notice it... I believe that's why they aren't as concerned about it as you might think.. |

I guess there is extreme's in every situation and I suppose that is a possibility but it'd have to be a pretty severe over tightening to torque them enough to allow/HELP them snap

ORIGINAL: hondadude Tighten until there is a sharp rise in torque and then 1/6 turn more. That is hondas rule for unspecified torque. |

You can quit busting my chops on this deal anytime now!! It's in the honda training manual, you know the test you take when you work for the dealership. probably one of the first 5 tests you take. You don't remember that question from when YOU took the tests?

26 years ago, when I started working on Hondas, they were called training modules, but then again I'm an experienced tech. Not some young buck trying to rut out a stomping ground like you are. Go bang your head with someone else for a while.
No wonder there are problems with good advice on websites, people like you can't stand to learn things, and try to run off knowledgeable people. |

OK gentlemen don't you think it is about time to put a stop at this little quarrel before it gets any bigger ??
Personaly i have a lot of respect for both of you ( chio --hondadude) wether it is knowledge wise or helping members out.. and when noobies or junior members see that our senior member and 2 of the better techs in here bicker back and forth like this ... it does not say a lot for the forum ..it might make some noobie run away ...I totally respect each person's opinion .. BUT if one person wants to torque every sinlge bolts and nuts on the car so be it if the other one does not feel that it is necessary so be it as well ... But we cannot force our opinions on anyone else so boys kiss and make up ;) Thank you... |
