Smaller Size Tires
Hello out there, being a cheap kind of guy, I got a deal on four 14" snow tires for my 2002 Accord (4 cyl) and since there are 15" tires on there now, someone is telling me I'm gonna have engine, computer, tranny (auto) problems. Other than speedo and milage reading being a little off, any had experiance with this ?. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

RE: Smaller Size Tires
Never heard of this, and know a ton of people running different than stock rims and tires including myself. I wouldnt worry about it.

RE: Smaller Size Tires
With a 2002, you MIGHT(?) have brake clearance problems. I think maybe 15 inch was the smallest stock size?

RE: Smaller Size Tires
As long as they fit over the brakes, its OK. Your ABS might have problems, ONLY if you have different sizes on different corners.

RE: Smaller Size Tires
I think it all comes down to the circumference difference between the tires. If there is a difference then you will see a speedo difference. I doubt you will have any trans issues or ABS issues. Ireally can't see how there could be any problems at all unless the brake calipers won't clear....

RE: Smaller Size Tires
Well I hope you got some 14" wheels for those tires cause you sure cant put 14" tires on a 15" wheel.
For a quick test just stand one of the snow tires next to the 15" thats on there now, if it is within about a half inch of being as tall(profile) you wont notice any problem. |
