Temperature gage rising

Hi there! I have a 1998 Honda Accord LX. The front end has been totalled. Here is my question. I just had the radiator, one engine fan replace, and a new tempeature gage and temp. send ing unit. Today my temp. gage got above normal again. Will the heat cause that to happen or is it something else causing it.

Thanks,
Erin

With extensive front-end damage, it could be almost anything. More detail might help.

Are you looking for how-to fix it yourself? Or wondering how to second-guess your mechanic?

You don't say where you're located, so it's hard to say whether 'the heat' would cause something like that. How hot is it? Death Valley? Sahara?

Did you run the car after the damage at all? was the thermostat replaced or just the sending units etc? is the fan coming on? Check your oil and make sure that it looks normal (not milky at all) and before you start the car in the morning pop the radiator cap off and see if it looks kinda rainbow colored like something is floating on the top.... those two are signs of a head gasket problem....

I will check those two things in the morning. The car was wrecked before I got. I know the people who put it together as well, but I know that wrecked cars have more problems. I have had it for 6 years and this is the first time I have had trouble with it.

The thermostat and the sending unit were both replaced.

If you have had it for that long and this is the first sign of trouble I doubt it's a head gasket.... It's more than likely your thermostat.... once it starts to heat up does it ever all of the sudden cool back down?

You've had it for 6 years and the front-end damage was before that? I wouldn't be so quick to blame the damage for what's going on NOW.

I misunderstood the timing of the damage...

T-stat & sender replaced recently, or replaced back 6 years ago. T-stats don't always last THAT long.
