test pipe doesnt have o2 bung help!

I just purchased a test pipe and it doesnt have an o2 bung on it so how can i get around this problem ive heard that just wrapping it in foil and tying it to the car will work anyone know if this will will work and not throw a CEL? I have a 96 accord ex sedan. Any help will be very appreciated thanks.

need to drill a hole and have a bung weld in place.

So you dont think the foil thing will work?

PAhonda 09-01-2010 03:33 PM

You can try, but I don't think that it will work.

buy one with a bung. If you don't have a sensor in it it will throw codes and it may make your car run rich.

That O2 sensor is the downstream one, so it won't change the air/fuel mixture, because the ECU looks at the first one bolted in the exhaust manifold. That second O2 sensor just monitors the catalytic converter for emissions.

So even if it does throw a CEL it wont affect performance of car? So what do you guys think will happen if i just tuck the sensor away?

If your poppin a CEL your car will go into limp mode...so yes your performance will be hurt. The foil thing..I don't see that working. You have 2 options you can do. Drill and weld a bung or find someone who knows how to block the secondary o2 CEL from your ECU. Norm. has to be a tuner. But what they do it take that CEL and delete it permanently from you ECU so it will NEVER pop again and you will not even have to use the secondary downstream o2. But your better off drilling and welding.

Do you know where i can get a bung for the test pipe?
