Thoughts....Ideas!!!!
I hope someone might be able to assist:
2004 Accord 2.4 AT
This is my wife's vehicle that I am trying to fix. About 2 months ago I noticed that when she would turn the ignition the rotation sounded very sluggish and weak but would quickly start. Then one day nothing, let it sit and the next day it would start again sluggishly. Last week wouldn't start, let it sit, started an hour later got it home and since would not start barely attempt to turn over. Here is what I have done to this point:
1. Pulled battery which was purchased about 9 months ago and had tested at 2 different stores - it was fine
2. Had alternator tested - it was fine
3. Pulled the starter "PIA" and had tested - again all is good
4. The only real ground I could find was right next to the battery, so I removed and checked for corrossion on cable or screw and all checked out.
Based on the above, I am at a loss. Considering the vehicle has 113,000 miles I went ahead and replaced plugs with recommended and did an oil change (didn't think it would make the car start, but I guess part of me was hopeful). So, now I am here hoping someone could shed some light. I thought to look at ignition, but based on what I have read it does not seem to be the issue. Also, I know there are additional grounds, any specific one I should check? Again, any help/recommendations would be appreciated (btw....$25 deposited to PayPal account of the first to supply a solution that will work). I won't be able to do much until Friday, but could order the required parts if the meantime if necessary. I didn't realize how annoying it can be when my wife is " stranded" and can't leave, not sure I can take the nagging any longer. Need to keep her out of my vehicle and get her back in hers.
Thanks!

When the starter won't engage you need to do the 'caveman test'.
While someone is holding the key in the crank position...... Smack the side of the starter with a small hammer. If the starter spins it means the contacts are bad.

Agreed, just because the starter bench tested "good", that doesn't mean it is. My 03, same engine and starter was doing the same thing, first guess was battery...nope, turned out to be completely worn out starter brushes, you can get a brush kit for about 30 bucks. The Mitsuba starters are easy to rebuild.
