Timing Belt - How many of your timing belts have actually broke?
Just wondering...
I have a 3.0L V6 with 230k on it, factory belt. My friend has the 4 cylinder (both 99's) that has the factory belt at 326k. |
Most folks don't want to take a chance that belt will break and change the TB's when due or slightly overdue.
If your belt breaks it will cost 2-3 times as much to repair as to replace the belts. Obviously, you have been pleased w/ your car to have kept so long. Why wait for disaster? good luck |
With TX on this....I've had zero timing belts break on my Honda's. Why, because I change them when due.
I'm almost ready to do my first v6 Honda timing belt (wifes '07 Pilot). Still reading and getting parts....she is at 105K. TX, might have to hit you up if I get stuck :) Back on topic. As stated, if the belt breaks I'd give it a > 85% chance valves get bent. Which now means you are pulling the head and having machine work done. |
