Tire inflation
 

What do you guys run for tire pressure? I usually run 32psi all around, but I'm thinking about going to 35psi. I don't know what kind increase in gas mileage I will see, I currently get 29MPG combined. Yesterday, was the most costly fill up of my life, $51.92. The guy on the other side of the pump put $100. worth of diesel in his truck and he said that didn't fill it. Looking for fuel savings ideas.

32 psi is optimum regardless of max tire pressure stated on your tire.
i see cupped tires constantly on overinflatted tires.
ask a tire company, they will tell you 32
if you have a 4 wheel drive truck with mudders on it go for 60 psi

Over inflated tires will wear quicker in the center of the tread, and give you a rougher ride. If wearing the tires faster, and a rougher ride is worth a couple miles per gallon go for it. 35psi is not bad really, but I wouldn't go any higher than that. I will usually inflate the tires to 33-34psi, to allow for the eventual loss of air as time goes by. That way it will be a longer period of time before the pressure is down to 30psi, and I have to add more air again.

When I buy tires, the max pressure is usually 44psi. I usually run 40psi. I never get cupped tires from running this way. The tire manufacturer says its fine up to 44psi. Why would it produce cupping at a pressure less than that? Mine never have. I usually get 40-60k miles out of run of the mill tires.

all depends on the quality of tire you have. cheap tires tend to feather and wear terribly. i see it daily.
i raced speedway motorcycles for years and we'd run 12 psi on the rear tire (for traction), 32 up front.
i raced with a 60 year old veteran who also worked for Goodyear as an engineer. he ran 32 psi in his rear tire and smoked division 2, im tellin you BALLS OUT!
after smokin my ass i became friends with him and we got on the tire pressure chat, he told me this, " countless hours go into tire manufacturing, these guys have Masters degrees in rubber, optimum tire pressure is 32 psi regardless of make or application"
i still ran 12 on the race bike, but i run 32 on the street.
i have new 17" Falkens on my Accord, they are at 32.
