Transmission Fluid Filter

Hi,

I recently got my car's transmission flushed by a mechanic. (I did the drain/fill X 3 kind of flush. Used genuine honda fluid). The mechanic suggested that I need to get a filter installed on a hose/pipe (not sure which one) because Honda Accord 99 transmissions don't have filters in them. He suggested to purchase the filter at the dealer's and he would be able to install it for me.

Any idea what he was talking about? Have any of you guys done this on your car? Is it a good idea?

Thanks for your help.

RE: Transmission Fluid Filter

There is a filter kit that is supplied with reman trans from Honda.
The filter is installed in line from the trans to the trans cooler located in the bottom of the radiator.

FYI the trans DOES have an internal filter, though it isn't a serviceable item.

Hondadude, so would you say adding one is a good idea or no?

How much did the dealership quote you to install the external filter indy49?

While you are at it, adding a tranny cooler wouldn't be that hard. The model for your car is Hayden 403.

all the filters in the world won't help anything when the differential bearings shell out.
