Transmission Leak
My wife's transmission has developed a leak. It is a 97 Accord DX automatic. When I was under the car changing the oil, the leak appeared to come from where the transmission mates with the engine. Any ideas on where to start looking to fix this? It is leaking at a rate of 10 large drops on the driveway each night. Thanks in advance. Let me know if you need anymore information.

The only things that I think would cause a leak in the area you are describing, the shift shaft seal is behind the shift linkage/cable cover, or the Torque Convertor 'O' ring. The lower torque convertor cover comes off pretty easy, maybe you could look for a trail of fluid. |

item#2 in this pic isa cover plate at the bottom of the TC housing.
Remember you saw red transfluid dripping there? But look around closely at the sides of the trans to be sure the fluid isn't flowing downhill from somewhere else. TC 'O' ring leaks are not very common. [IMG]local://upfiles/5417/ED7F474F67D141CCA48F0A95B9956A65.gif[/IMG] |
