Default transmission noise?

ok when in gear and when my foot is off gas pedal it makes a loud tapping noise in the front area of the car....when in gear and ACCELARATING it will not make any noise...engine runs great like always and gears shift in smoothly...no vibration when idling or anything ...just that tapping noise when i let my foot off the gas...grr...any ideas? is it a transmission issue?

Could be a valve tap. How long has it been since you've cleaned and flushed the crankcase (Marvel Mystery oil & engine flush)?

usually, but not necessarily. I'm thinking oil sludge in the lifters. Marvel would help if this is the case. During engine braking, the pressures are backward in the engine and this could lead to the noise that you are hearing combined with something slacking and then going back to where it belongs (ie-hydraulic lifters on the cam or rocker).

That would be my first action. Also a flush before you change the oil. After a few hundred miles, if the Marvel is going to work, the tap should be gone. If this fixes it, I'd flush after the 3000 miles with MMO, but only run the alcohol for 5 minutes at normal idle instead of the 15-20 at 2000 rpm like a normal flush.

MT + 6th gen = I4, but it should be in the sig anyway. Anyone with the cahoney's to do the swap would mention that.

shoot ...should have mentioned that the problem was for the supra...should of put it in off topic sorry guys... well the engine has 45-50k on it since its a japanese engine...the car is an Inline 6 Manual Transmission...was driving it some more and i swear i can feel the tapping right under my seat...theres a little feel on the stick itself too...so im doubting its an engine problem now...never know though
